Hello, I am hoping you can help. I want to implement a progressive, bottom-up, "participatory democracy" in our new neighborhood organization. I am reaching out to as many progressive organizations and experts as possible for guidance: Can you please help me find: 1) any working examples of community organizations that have adopted a "participatory democracy" structure (local to USA) 2) manual/instructions or tips for the effective implementation of a "participatory democracy" framework in a community organization 3) examples of how a community organization can codify "participatory democracy" ideals into their by-laws, incorporation & 501c paperwork, and leadership structure. Any working examples I can use as a model would help a great deal. Thanks so much for any help you can provide. Barbara

Chicago's Magggie Martinez of the Block Club Federation, whom I have worked with, would be an excellent resourcce to contact

Thank you for the stimulating question which really leads to resources beyond our collection.

The WorldCat freely searchable at     http://www.worldcat.org/

would help you find those items and available literature in the world of other public, special, and academic libraries.

The writings of Gene Sharp were a resource for the Occupy Movement. There is only one copy of his writings locally available at the Crystal Lake Public Library, From Dictatorship to Democracy: a conceptual framework for liberation.

At Niles here we have Breaking Robert's Rule of Order which discusses building consensus but not on a community-wide basis.

Hope some of this information is helpful
